Roulette Boule is the predecessor of contemporary roulette, be it French, European or American version.
In the XVIII and XIX centuries, a kind of roulette called La Boule was very popular in European gambling houses. It reached the peak of popularity in the mid of XIX century, and then gradually became to decrease. Up to the date, Roulette Boule is popular among old-school gamblers and those willing to pay tribute to rich traditions of roulette.
Roulette Boule: Basic Rules and Technical Characteristics
This version of roulette is quite authentic. In contrast to any other counterpart, Roulette Boule doesn’t have a wheel rotating around its axis. Instead, the game uses a bowl with cells engraved at the bottom and numbered from 1 to 9. The ball launched by the dealer rotates on the inner surface of the roulette wheel and stops in one of the numbers, which is declared winning.
The goal of the game is to predict which number will be the winning one and make one or more relevant bets, which can be made both on a single number and a group of numbers. Bets are made on special fields on the gaming table (for betting on numbers and betting on equal chances). The sector in the center is used for even or odd bets; sectors to the right and to the left – for red or black; sectors at the bottom and at the top – for betting on the 1st or the 2nd half.
The roulette wheel has no rotating element and contains 36 numbers split into four sets. Numbers 1, 3, 6 and 8 are black, while 2, 4, 7 and 9 are red. 5 is yellow, and it is an analog of the “zero” section used in classic roulette. All bets made on 5 lose.
Bet | Payout and Probability | Advantage of the Casino |
Black or Red, Low or High(1–4 or 6–9), Odd or Even | 1:1, 44% | 11.11% |
Straight | 7:1 | 11.11% |
How to Win at Roulette Boule
All strategies are based on the risk management. Outplaying the casino is almost impossible nowadays as gambling institutions have long learned to beat once popular strategies by either limiting the maximum bet or introducing other restrictions. However, you can check the effectiveness of the most popular gambling strategies, which are:
- If you know mathematics, you must be familiar with this strategy. The essence is that you should bet on the same color until the win comes and double the bet after each loss. As for the maximum initial bet, it shouldn’t exceed 1% of the total win.
- Thomas Donald betting strategy, which implies betting on the same color and reducing (increasing) the bet amount by £1 every time you win (lose). The idea is that 36 spins will give almost the same number of black and red outcomes, and you can make money on varying your bet level.
- Big Square. The strategy is based on an anti-probability theory, which states that those numbers that appear more than 2 times in the last 36 shots will appear again.
Although Roulette Boule is much less generous than any other type of roulette (the house edge reaches 11.11%, which is, fairly speaking, quite high), it does have a lot of fans in Switzerland, Spain, France, and some other countries.
The Verdict
Roulette Boule is a very specific version of the roulette, which brings you a positive mood, fun and enjoy the atmosphere of old-school gambling.
