Aces and Faces video poker is an improved version of Jacks of Better, the most widespread variation of video poker.
A few changes concerning the payouts don’t affect the gameplay too much so that Aces and Faces is a no less exciting and even more generous gamble! The same 52-card deck is used, and the payouts start as low as a pair of jacks.
A Long Way from the 9th Century to the Present Day
Change is the law of life, but it seems that time has no effect on the popularity of card games. Emerged in the distant 9th century, they soon conquered the gambling world. Many centuries ago cards had a sacred significance, symbolizing not only the gameplay, but also people’s fates. They were, first of all, advisors, while the entertaining function was secondary.
Luckily, today everyone can enjoy card games without any negative consequences. The Aces and Faces video poker is represented in most online casinos in both free and paid regimes so that you can enjoy the game carelessly and without any risk.
If you recall the history of the gambling world, you will find out that the game received a high profile and popularity thanks to its simple rules and support of the cinema that advertised it in every way. One can safely say that video poker reached the level of popular sports like football and basketball.
The growing competence on the world gambling market led to the emergence of various versions of video poker, and Aces and Face is no exception. The earliest models of this entertainment appeared in the mid-1970s and continue to evolve up to the date.
Basic Rules and Betting Limits
The Aces and Faces video poker uses a standard 52-card deck with no jokers. To start the game, you have to select the number of coins between 1 and 5. The common coin values are £0.05, £0.1, £0.25, £0.5, £1, £2, and £5. The highest bet per round is £25.
After you choose your bet, you can start the game by pressing the “Deal” button. In the 1st hand, you’re given 5 cards, and you can hold as many of them as you want by pressing the “Hold” button. Once you do it, you press “Deal” again, and the 2nd hand goes on. The cards that you held remain on the screen while the rest are replaced with new ones from the same deck. As there are only two hands, the game ends as soon as the 2nd hand is over.
If the hand is successful, you can start a risk round to either double up or double half the score. The latter option allows you to account ½ of your earnings to the balance and gamble the rest ½. You can increase your winnings by doubling them up to a certain limit/number of rounds (usually 4).
Payouts
As the title suggests, the lowest paying combination is a pair of jacks, and the payoffs are tied to combos of aces and face cards. The prize combinations are never changed while payouts differ depending on the casino.
The standard paytable is as follows (1-5 coins):
Royal Flush | 500 | 1000 | 2000 | 3000 | 4000 |
Four Aces | 80 | 160 | 240 | 320 | 400 |
Straight Flush | 50 | 100 | 150 | 200 | 250 |
Four Jacks, Queens or Kings | 40 | 80 | 120 | 160 | 200 |
Four 2s’ through 10’s | 25 | 50 | 75 | 100 | 125 |
Full House | 8 | 16 | 24 | 32 | 40 |
Flush | 5 | 10 | 15 | 20 | 25 |
Straight | 4 | 8 | 12 | 16 | 20 |
Three of a Kind | 3 | 6 | 9 | 12 | 15 |
Two Pairs | 2 | 4 | 6 | 8 | 10 |
Jacks or Better | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 |
Winning Strategies
Although no strategy can guarantee you win, there are some common patterns based on the game rules and the theory of probability.
Carefully examine the cards you get in the 1st hand and never break a winning combination if you need more than one card to complete Royal Flush. If only one is required, then you can break it. If no winning combination is formed after the 1st hand, hold the next cards:
- 4 cards for Royal Flush, Straight Flush or Straight.
- 3 cards for Royal Flush.
- 4 cards of the same suit.
- 3 cards for Straight Flush.
- A pair of Jacks or higher.
If you’re new to the game, don’t rush to play for money. Although Aces and Faces is a rather simple gamble, it always requires some time to get used to. Learn the game patterns, hone your strategies, and huge winnings won’t make you wait for them for too long.
